I believe everything about this site states that it is an advanced site for advanced writers. The Admin are extremely careful about vetting members for the site. The downside to this is that some members end up rejected and unhappy about it. I think the site ends up being better for this process, though it can be a challenge for people who expect Admin to bend to their own ideas and head canons. Every member I’ve encountered has had answers to questions that are consistent to the staff, so I think it’s safe to say that those of us who’ve stuck with it are very insistent on continuing the staff’s viewpoints. The staff also asks us questions before making changing (even when redoing rules in the middle of a Quidditch game), so we’re all part of something dynamic and growing.
Static Hogwarts is a stable site. There is no drama among the staff and you can tell by the site lore that a lot of time, effort, and heart has gone into this site. It isn’t going to be active one day and shut down 2 weeks later. This site seems to be in it for the long-haul. The staff is on every day and engage with everyone on the site. The members I’ve encountered have been wonderful, creative, and inclusive. There is no shortage of want ads, ideas, and silly jokes. There are members who’ve been around for a few years and others for a few weeks, but I think everyone is treated the same. I have never felt personally attacked or shut down, even with the clear (and sometimes highly structured) expectations. If you’re concerned about fitting in, simply ask members or the staff how you can best fit in. They’ll all tell you – want ads, engaging, and throwing your characters into threads!
Static Hogwarts is an amazing community and roleplaying experience for writers of all experience levels. The admins are very responsive and show an impressive level of social and technical understanding and maturity, and are never leaving new members to figure things out for themselves. There is a notable lack of "cliquey" roleplaying, as I've noticed, and the admins are a driving force in this sort of inclusive environment as they are the first to try and plot with newcomers. Systematically, the site works well to encourage creativity and provides oppourtunities for members to give imput on events and site ideas, and there is always a new event going on. There is a nice element of surprise with devices such as Risk! factor and other NPC-type activities by the admins. So five thumbs up! - Satyr(Member)
